Is it safe to travel in 2022?

It is safe to travel in 2022 but be aware that travelling now is not like it was in the past. Here are some things to consider when planning your trip:

  • Choose to travel with companies that have you and your health and safety as a priority. Ask what measures they have in place and don’t be afraid to question them. You can read about the AE Expeditions comprehensive health and safety protocols to get an idea of what you should look out for. In 2022 we’re committed to responsible travel.
  • Everyone has a role to play in responsible travel to ensure the safety of the people and places they visit. Take personal responsibility by following health and safety protocols and reading up on those required in the countries and regions you intend to visit ahead of time.

At AE Expeditions we have partnered with Respond Global, a world-renowned health crisis management agency who has assisted us to develop our prevention and response system that is among the most comprehensive in the world.

As part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety and delivering unforgettable and enriching experiences to our guests, we want to provide the best opportunity for you to travel safely and responsibly on a voyage with AE Expeditions.

The spectacular Antarctic Peninsula is the most accessible part of the white continent. The western coast is etched with fjords; dozens of islands lie offshore. The result is a glorious maze of sheltered channels and inlets, where modern scientific stations and reminders of early explorers and the whaling industry are scattered among penguin rookeries and seal colonies.

Explore endlessly and confidently on your own Antarctic adventure. Discover which expedition is right for you and get planning!

What COVID-19 tests do I need to travel?

When travelling with us, there is a checklist to complete prior to departure.

  • Before leaving home for your trip, make sure you check the COVID-19 health screenings required for international travel as they may differ between countries and regions.
  • When you arrive at Santiago, Chile (for Antarctica voyages), you will be required to have a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, which tests for COVID-19.
  • When you arrive at your port before embarkation, you will be required to take a pre-boarding health screening that includes an antigen test.

Are there any entry requirements to Chile?

There are currently (last updated 8 Dec 2021) eight steps to meet the entry requirements to Chile, where our January – March Antarctica expeditions depart, but don’t worry – our expert team is here to help!
