Situated roughly 40 km (25 miles) away from the mainland, Grímsey is a lush, grass-covered island that is intersected by the Arctic Circle. Because of this, many travellers make their way to Grímsey so they can boast about having crossed this imaginary line. With around 100 residents, it offers a tranquil setting for activities like Zodiac cruising, kayaking and capturing stunning photographs of diverse seabirds.
